Compared to Wednesday’s game, Thursday night’s contest was I guess...better...for the Padres, contextually. After back-to-back two-out home runs in the opening inning, the Padres struggled to tack on anymore, as well as stop the Dodgers from piling it on, in a 11-2 drumming at Dodger Stadium.
After SS Fernando Tatis and 3B Manny Machado were retired, LF Tommy Pham and 1B Eric Hosmer went yard one after the other. The euphoria from the early fireworks were quickly drowned out by the another paid of home runs by the Dodgers on the other side of the first as they took the lead back 3-2.
