On this date in San Diego Padres history, rookie catcher Yasmani Grandal made MLB history when he cranked back-to-back homers against the Colorado Rockies, becoming the first player to ever record a home run batting from either side of the plate for his first two career hits. He had flown out in the second inning before hitting his first in the fourth inning and the second two innings later.
The Padres left Coors Field with the 8-4 victory behind Grandals pair of home runs and shortstop Alexi Amarista, who also went yard twice and brought in four runs.
