Padres second-year pro Ruddy Giron accomplished a feat that many professional ballplayers never sniff, and he did it in his first Class A game, with little to no sleep.
The 18-year-old Dominican shortstop capped off a perfect 6-for-6 performance with a home run for Fort Wayne on Monday in his 2015 debut. And according to TinCaps manager Francisco Morales, Giron had to overcome a 3 a.m. wake-up call, a lack of sleep and a cross-country trip to do it.
