No Winsies: An ode to former Padres skipper Bud Black

Happy Birthday, Buddy! I wrote you a song kinda.

This post was a long time coming. I know people had plenty of reasons to want Bud Black fired, but I loved him. I spent my formative Padres fan years with Buddy at the helm. I was (and still am) super bummed about the Padres letting him go. Today is his birthday and I thought it'd be a good time to post this.

"No Winsies"

(Sung to the tune of Weezer's "Da Vinci")

You tried getting this team that was new
To earn some wins, but they didn’t come through
Some felt for a long time that you were toast
But others felt that you really got hosed
Your tried your best, the players were your friends
But you had to part ways in the end
You’ll always be here in my heart
I hope that soon you will get a new start

I still can’t even blame you
No, AJ Preller couldn’t save you
This team was just too good to be true
We’re at a loss for words
We’re at a loss for words
I don’t think letting you go was cool
The team was playing awful
But you always just said "That’s baseball"
You're at a loss for words
You’re at a loss for words

I kept the faith on gaslampball.
