Over the weekend, Manny Machado was ejected from a game against the Colorado Rockies for arguing balls and strikes. After his ejection, Machado gave home plate umpire Bill Welke an earful of obscenity before chucking his bat at the backstop violently.
He was subsequently handed a one-game ban, for, in the world’s of MLB, “aggressively arguing and making contact” with Welke. Machado is currently appealing that suspension.
Well, it appears the Major League Baseball Umpires Association did not find that to be a satisfactory handling of the situation. Today, the group posted a scathing indictment of MLB’s verdict on both Twitter and Facebook.
