Ron Fowler held his tongue long enough.
The executive chairman of the San Diego Padres unloaded on his team during a radio appearance Wednesday, labeling the current cast of Friars “miserable failures” and singling out high-priced pitcher James Shields as “an embarrassment.”
The Padres are in last place in the National League West with a 21-33 record. The last straw before Fowler’s tirade was a 16-4 loss to the Seattle Mariners Tuesday in which Shields (2-7) was tagged for 10 runs in 2 2/3 innings.
Will Fowler’s displeasure result in any immediate changes?
