The weekend downpour was a welcome sight for one drought and a downright nuisance for another. As much as California needed the rain, Sunday's postponement gives the Padres (43-49) one less game to inform their decision to buy or sell ahead of the July 31 trade deadline. Yes, their four-game win streak is still alive, but a five-game win streak would have looked a lot better heading into a three-game set against the defending World Champion Giants. For now, their unlikely push to end the playoff drought is in limbo.
