Continuing its efforts to get youths involved in the events surrounding next month’s All-Star Game, Major League Baseball today will announce its inaugural “PLAY BALL Park,” an 80,000-square-foot outdoor facility located in front of the Hilton San Diego Bayfront.
MLB says the space, located just across Harbor Drive from Petco Park and adjacent to FanFest at the San Diego Convention Center, will “provide fun, engaging and educational activities for youth baseball and softball players and their families.” Admission will be free.
Tentative programming will include USA Baseball’s “Fun at Bat,” “Backyard Baseball,” and practice planning activations; softball instruction and skills training from USA Softball; Quick Baseball games administered by the Cal Ripken, Sr.
