The first two picks from the Padres’ 2018 draft class – left-hander Ryan Weathers and infielder Xavier Edwards – have been named to the Midwest League All-Star Game in the first full year in pro ball. The two will join right-hander Henry Henry in South Bend, Ind., for the June 18 showcase.
The 19-year-old Edwards, the 38th overall pick last year, will event start at second base for the Eastern Division team. The switch-hitter leads the circuit with a .348 batting average and is top-five in on-base percentage (.
