Shaun Brock understands that The Diamond, home of the Lake Elsinore Storm, could be without baseball until after its scheduled all-star break in mid-June.
The Storm, of course, never considered themselves as simply a minor league baseball team. They collected donations when the Holy Fire ravaged the area in 2018 and served some 500 free meals to veterans last Thanksgiving. They hold blood drives and reading programs with local schools, and now staff members are delivering low-cost meals to local residents during the coronavirus lockdown.
“The community supports us five months out of the year,” said Brock, co-general manager of the Storm, the Padres’ California League affiliate.
