Taylor Trammell saved his best for last.
Literally.
His go-ahead grand slam in the top of the ninth propelled Double-A Amarillo to an 8-3 win Sunday at Tulsa, clinching a Texas League championship in the Sod Poodles’ inaugural season.
The 22-year-old Trammell, acquired in the Franmil Reyes trade before the deadline, hit .229/.316/.381 after joining Amarillo in late July but was hot to close the season.
His ninth-inning grand slam was his third homer of the postseason. He drove in 11 runs in 10 games, swiped two bases and hit .
