Cal Quantrill likely can’t wait to get back up on a mound.
The Padres’ top pick from the 2016 draft, the 21-year-old right-hander allowed seven runs in low Single-A Fort Wayne’s season finale on Monday, a 13-2 loss to Bowling Green in the Midwest League.
Quantrill yielded eight hits, including a home run, and a walk and exited after 1 2/3 innings in his second start for Fort Wayne.
Quantrill allowed two runs in three innings in his first start after posting a 1.93 ERA, 28 strikeouts and two walks in 18 2/3 innings at short-season Tri-City.
