High Single-A Lake Elsinore’s lineup didn’t muster much support Sunday afternoon. Luis Patino usually doesn’t need much.
The 19-year-old right-hander struck out seven over five innings in the Storm’s 2-1 win over host Inland Empire, giving Patino a win in his California League debut.
Patino walked three in the game but only allowed one run on four hits. The only run scored in the fifth on a double after Inland Empire had strung together a triple and a walk. The damage was limited to one run when shortstop Gabriel Arias cut off a throw from center fielder Jeisson Rosario and flipped the ball home in time for the second out of the inning.
