CJ Abrams filled up the box score – and then some – in his professional debut on Tuesday night.
The seventh overall pick in this month’s draft, the 18-year-old Abram hit his first homer in a four-hit game as one of the Padres’ rookie-level Arizona League team scored a 4-3 victory over an Indians affiliate on the circuit’s opening night.
Abrams’ other three hits were singles. He also walked and scored two runs, although Abrams also made an error in the field at shortstop.
Second-rounder Joshua Mears and Victor Nova both had two hits.
