The rest of the 2019 campaign will not dictate Michel Baez’s future in the Padres organization. It will, however, go a long ways toward rebuilding momentum lost.
The 23-year-old Cuban threw two scoreless innings in relief, fanned four and wound up with his first win since August 2018 when Double-A Amarillo rallied for a 7-6 win on Saturday night at Hodgetown. Baez hit a batter, allowed two hits and committed a balk, but was up to 97 mph in his second appearance since coming back from the shoulder ailment that delayed the start of his season until last week.
