Minors: Michael Gettys powers latest El Paso win

Michael Gettys’ plus power comes with some swing-and-miss. He didn’t miss much Saturday.

The Padres’ 2014 second-rounder drove in three runs on two homers, leading Triple-A El Paso to a 7-5 win over visiting Salt Lake.

Gettys struck out once, pushing that total to 47 in 29 games to start the year. But he’s sitting on eight homers – nearly halfway to the career-high 17 he hit in 2017 in A-ball – and an .871 OPS, nearly 150 points above his career numbers.
