MacKenzie Gore was good again on Tuesday.
So was Gabriel Arias.
The Padres’ top pitching prospect struck out a season-high nine batters over six strong innings, an effort one-upped only by Arias’ two-run, walk-off homer in high Single-A Lake Elsinore’s 3-1 win over visiting Lancaster at The Diamond.
Gore allowed one run on three hits and a walk in the quality start, lowering his ERA to 1.23. The lone run he allowed was on a sacrifice fly in the first inning.
Through 22 innings with the Storm (10-9), the 20-year-old Gore (2-0) as struck out 27, walked three and allowed 12 hits.
