MacKenzie Gore ran out of innings. He is not, however, staying out of minor league baseball’s headlines.
The Padres’ top pitching prospects has been named the MLB Pipeline Pitcher of the Year, the culmination of the 20-year-old Gore living up to expectations – and perhaps exceeding them – in his first full healthy season.
In a lot of ways, the bar may be even higher for the Padres’ 2017 No. 3 overall pick.
“One of the most exciting things about this year and going forward with Mac,” Padres farm direction Sam Geaney said last month, “is he had a tremendous season with a lot of success but there’s definitely more ceiling there.
