Minors: MacKenzie Gore gets one last Texas League start; Blister sends Patiño to injured list

The Padres fired up MacKenzie Gore again Tuesday evening, allowing their top pitching prospect one last competitive trip to the mound to cap a standout 2019 campaign.

It was a good trip, too, as Gore racked up five strikeouts in 1 2/3 hitless innings to start Double-A Amarillo’s game against visiting Tulsa.

It was also his last game of the season as Gore will not pitch in the Texas League playoffs after seeing his inning total jump from 60 2/3 in a blister-marred 2018 to 101 this season.

“We’re very happy with where Mac is at,” player development director Ben Sestanovich said.
