At this point, MacKenzie Gore has little left to prove in the California League.
The 20-year-old left-hander was one out shy of his first career complete game, striking out nine in high Single-A Lake Elsinore’s seven-inning, 7-1 win over visiting San Jose on Thursday. The Giants won the nightcap of the doubleheader, 3-2.
Gore didn’t walk a batter, allowed two hits and one run on a solo homer in the top of the seventh inning, the last batter he faced. He threw 57 of his 84 pitches for strikes and has allowed two runs or fewer in all 10 of his starts with the Storm (26-26).
