MacKenzie Gore is making up for lost time in a hurry.
The Padres’ top pitching prospect turned in a second straight strong effort to start his stay in the California League, striking out seven over five shutout innings in high Single-A Lake Elsinore’s 9-1 win over Inland Empire on Monday night.
Gore scattered two hits and a walk in earning just his four win as a pro. The 20-year-old right-hander won just twice last year, when a lingering blister on his left middle finger limited him to just 16 starts in his first full year as a pro.
