Minors: Logan Allen strong again as El Paso breaks out again

The Triple-A El Paso lineup padded its pro-baseball-best home run total with seven more long balls. Logan Allen didn’t need quite that much help.

The Padres’ 21-year-old pitching prospect turned in another strong outing Monday night, striking out seven in the Chihuahuas’ 15-0 romp over visiting Salt Lake.

Allen (3-1) scattered two hits and three walks in the win, lowering his ERA to 5.16. He has allowed one earned run over his last 12 innings after sporting a 19.80 ERA two starts into the season.

Esteban Quiroz (.321) drove in four runs on two hits, including his fourth and fifth homers of the year.
