Logan Allen turned in his best start of the year Monday. It just won’t count for three months.
The Padres’ 21-year-old pitching prospect struck out seven and limited the damage to two runs in five innings in a game suspended in the 11th inning due to the Pacific Coast League’s travel curfew. The game between Triple-A El Paso and Sacramento will resume July 15 during The Chihuahuas’ next visit to Reno.
A candidate for the rotation in big league camp, Allen fell out of the race late in spring training and allowed 11 earned runs through his first five innings with El Paso.
