The Padres traded away a left-handed pitching prospect last week. Another is rising quickly in 2019.
Joey Cantillo struck out seven over six no-hit innings to start low Single-A Fort Wayne’s 8-0 win over visiting West Michigan on Sunday. The only hit allowed by the TinCaps’ pitching staff was a leadoff single in the ninth off right-hander Jose Quezada, who struck out five over two shutout innings.
Right-hander Sam Keating (7.50) struck out a batter in a perfect seventh after Cantillo (9-3) fanned seven batters in the start.
