The Padres, a team official indicated this week, are in no hurry to rush MacKenzie Gore out of the California League. The 20-year-old pitching prospect is still doing all he can to change their mind.
Gore added five more shutout innings to a stellar start to his stay with high Single-A Lake Elsinore in a 1-0 loss in 10 innings on Friday night at San Jose. He struck out six, scattered three hits and walked one batter.
The effort lowered his earned run average to a near-pristine 1.07 through his first 42 frames.
