The minors’ top farm system is stacked with arms. Three of them will represent the Padres in next month’s All-Star Futures Game: MacKenzie Gore, Luis Patino and Adrian Morejon.
All three rank among MLB.com’s top-100 prospects, headlined by Gore, a 20-year-old left-hander who has risen to No. 3 via a healthy campaign at high Single-A Lake Elsinore.
Beset by a bothersome blister last year, Gore is 7-1 with a 1.12 ERA, 101 strikeouts and an 0.69 WHIP over a career-high 72 2/3 innings in the California League. Opponents have a .138 batting average against Gore, the Padres’ third overall pick in the 2017 draft.
