The Texas League has not been kind to Buddy Reed. Maybe Saturday is the start of an upswing.
The 24-year-old Reed homered for just the second time since May 14 and drove in three runs in Double-A Amarillo’s 5-0 win against visiting Frisco.
The blast was Reed’s ninth of the year. He hit five in Amarillo’s first five home games, one more in April after that and one each in May and June.
Reed is ranked No. 13 in MLB.com’s assessment of the Padres system, mostly on the merit of his first half last year at high Single-A Lake Elsinore.
