Minors: Baseball America unveils Padres’ top-10 prospects for 2020

The Padres’ graduated their 2019 top prospect, Fernando Tatis Jr., last year on opening day and before season’s end saw eight of Baseball America’s top-10 prospects in the organization — Luis Urias, Francisco Mejia, Adrian Morejon, Chris Paddack, Logan Allen, Josh Naylor and Cal Quantrill — spend time in the majors.

How well the team’s rebuild goes will be largely predicated on how the next wave or prospects pan out, a group headlined by arguably the top pitching prospect in the minors: MacKenzie Gore.

Beyond Gore’s obvious inclusion as the organization’s top prospect, the Padres believe they are developing another arm to slot toward the top of a rotation (Luis Patiño), more potential candidates to play up the middle (CJ Abrams and Taylor Trammell) and perhaps a long-term answer behind the plate (Luis Campusano).
