Andres Munoz made a triumphant return to the ninth inning Sunday.
The Padres intriguing relief prospect struck out the side in Double-A Amarillo’s 4-2 win at Corpus Christi, Munoz’s first save since April 5.
It was also the eighth straight appearance in which Munoz did not give up a run, a stretch in which he lowered his ERA from 6.75 to 2.08.
In 13 innings, the 20-year-old Munoz has struck out 28, walked 11 and allowed seven hits.
Right-hander Emmanuel Ramirez (2-4, 5.16) started the game with eight strikeouts and one run allowed on three hits and two walk sin 5 2/3 innings.
