The 850-pound, bronze statue of Bill Walton is covering about as much ground as the real life version.
It’s resided at the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon’s Competitor Group, a few minutes east of Torrey Pines Golf Course. It’s occupied ground at the Challenged Athletes Foundation, a long outlet pass down the same street and one of the 52 charities supported by Walton and his wife, Lori.
Starting Tuesday, it will anchor a spot at Petco Park.
See Bill. See Bill run.
“First of all, Bill’s a friend of the Padres and has been for a very long time,” Padres Executive Chairman Ron Fowler said.
