Two starting pitchers are chasing $300 million paydays as the Baseball Winter Meetings get underway in San Diego.
It’s only fitting that sports labor pioneer Marvin Miller finally found his way into the Hall of Fame as the industry gathers here this week.
Miller and eight-time All-Star catcher Ted Simmons will be inducted into Hall of Fame next summer after their election by the Modern Baseball Era Committee on Sunday.
Miller, who died in November 2012 at the age of 95, appeared on 12 of 16 ballots, the exact number needed for induction. Simmons, who was a Padres bench coach for Bud Black from 2009 to 2010, appeared on 13.
