SAN FRANCISCO -- Saturday was Jordan Lyles' turn in the Padres' rotation. He warmed up in the AT&T Park bullpen before the game. His name was on the lineup card.
And then, in the bottom of the first inning, Matt Strahm trotted out of the Padres' dugout and took the mound to face the Giants. Lyles was nowhere to be seen.
No reason was given for Lyles' absence, but it's reasonable to assume injury, given that Strahm received extra time to get loose before the bottom of the first inning.
