Early Wednesday morning, the Padres announced that reliever Luis Perdomo will miss the entire 2021 season after opting to have Tommy John surgery performed on his right elbow.
The 6’2, 201-pound Perdomo recently found out he has a tear in his ulnar collateral ligament (UCL) and decided going under the knife was the best way to go right now. The baseline recovery time for Tommy John surgery is roughly one calendar year, with sometimes two years needed for some athletes to retain their pre-injury form.
The 27-year old missed a chunk of time during the 2020 season due to inflammation in his forearm.
