Lucchino pal gets Fenway farewell

Celebration of life: A gathering at Boston’s venerable Fenway Park the other day wasn’t for a Red Sox baseball game but a public farewell to major sports fan Jay Emmett, 86, who died June 22.

Emmett was a former San Diego Padres board member, baseball marketing consultant and longtime close friend of Larry Lucchino, who went from the helm of the Padres to become president and CEO of the Boston Red Sox.

Lucchino and Padres CEO Mike Dee spoke at the service. San Diegans Bill Geppert and Ted Roth were among attendees.
