SAN DIEGO -- The Padres have a good problem. They have eight potential starters -- four being rookies -- competing for five rotation spots, and that number is expected to increase come September when rosters expand.
What's not good about that good problem is that lately, none of those rookies have seized their opportunity.
Joey Lucchesi is one of those rookies, and a chance to further distance himself from the pack slipped away, much like his control in the Padres' 9-4 loss to the D-backs on Friday.
