PHOENIX -- While Padres rookie Joey Lucchesi wasn't bad in Sunday's 4-2 loss to the D-backs at Chase Field, one situation undid him.
The lefty walked Paul Goldschmidt, before giving up a single to A.J. Pollock to begin the fourth inning. Moments later, Pollock took off for second base and though Lucchesi realized it, he sailed the pickoff attempt over first baseman Eric Hosmer's head, allowing Goldschmidt to score.
On the very next pitch, Nick Ahmed took Lucchesi deep to left field.
