SAN DIEGO -- Padres first baseman Eric Hosmer was held out of the starting lineup Sunday with lower back tightness. It's the second consecutive game Hosmer has missed.
The extent of Hosmer's injury is unclear, though a club spokesman called it "minor." On Saturday, manager Andy Green noted he had merely given Hosmer a day off to sustain him for the grind of a Major League season.
Hosmer is batting .288/.364/.458 in 15 games for the Padres this season. A year ago in Kansas City, Hosmer played all 162 of his club's games and started 160 of them.
