Coming off the first off-day of the season, the Padres arrived at Coors Field on Friday morning with their first transaction: Left-hander Robbie Erlin re-joined the team in place of left-hander Matt Thornton, who hit the disabled list with tendonitis in his left Achilles.
Padres manager Andy Green said the 39-year-old Thornton sustained the injury during warm-ups on Opening Day. He did not appear in the Dodgers series and stayed back in San Diego, where he’s been fitted for a walking boot.
Green said Thornton is expected to be in the boot for about two weeks before beginning a rehab progression.
