Lineups: Pirela recalled as Weeks hits DL

Yes, Jose Pirela did not get into a game at second base At Triple-A El Paso until Saturday night. He did start 19 games there for the Yankees a year ago.

That, according to Padres manager Andy Green, makes the 26-year-old Pirela – used exclusively in the outfield this spring – plenty qualified to fill in for Jemile Weeks, who joined starter Cory Spangenberg on the disabled list a day after straining his right hamstring Saturday night. Though Weeks had yet to undergo further testing and was moving around the clubhouse better than he was less than 12 hours earlier, the Padres needed immediate coverage because three other infielders –Spangenberg, Yangervis Solarte and Alexi Amarista – are already on the disabled list.
