Pat Murphy won’t return as the Padres’ manager next season, meaning that San Diego is one of four possible destinations for managerial hopefuls (along with Seattle, D.C. and Miami). GM A.J. Preller has promised a wide-ranging search. While we haven’t heard much yet about possible candidates, information is starting to trickle out. Here’s the latest:
- Dennis Lin of the San Diego Union-Tribune reports that Angels assistant GM Scott Servais, a former Major League catcher, will interview for the position. Servais worked with Preller in the Rangers’ front office, and while he’s expected to join Jerry Dipoto in the new-look Mariners front office, Servais does have some interest in managing at the Major League level, according to Lin.
