Jackson Merrill has won the August National League Rookie of the Month, his second one this season. The 21-year-old hit .303 with a .969 OPS and 23 RBI in 27 games.

I’ve run out of ways to describe this guy so I’ll keep it simple. He’s the perfect young player to help the Padres stay in contention year in and year out. Talk about setting a good example? Merrill’s doing it with this play on the field and his talk in the clubhouse to the media.
