Eric Hosmer smacked a high fastball for a double to right-center and stayed with a two-strike pitch for a single up the middle in his two at-bats during Monday night’s intrasquad game at Petco Park. He got in front of a screaming grounder. He joked, he laughed, he talked.
He was who he needs to be.
“That’s the exact version of Eric Hosmer that we’re looking for,” manager Jayce Tingler said. “A guy that can pressure the zone, hit the ball to the gaps and play great defense. Help lead this group of players by being an example and setting the tone.
