Homers continue to haunt Padres’ Matt Strahm

Like clockwork, Matt Strahm yielded his requisite two home runs, solo shots in each of the first two innings Tuesday. They weren’t nearly as troublesome as the third surrendered to Evan Longoria with two runners on in the fifth inning, a mammoth blast that nearly landed on the Western Metal Supply Co. building as the last-place Giants again buried the Padres, 10-4, at Petco Park.

The loss was the Padres’ third in a row, again dropping them a game below .500, and their fourth straight in head-to-head meetings with Giants, who are nine games under .500 as the cellar-dweller in the NL West.
