LOS ANGELES —
Chris Paddack got the “redemption” he sought.
Hunter Renfroe and Manuel Margot made sure it mattered.
Paddack allowed three hits and struck out six in 5 2/3 scoreless innings, Renfroe’s seventh-inning solo homer and Margot’s two-run shot in the eighth lifted the Padres to a 3-1 victory over the Dodgers on Saturday night.
After Paddack departed, having thrown 96 pitches, Trey Wingenter got the next four outs. The Dodgers scored an unearned run off Craig Stammen in the eighth, and Kirby Yates worked a scoreless ninth for his major league-leading 29th save.
