Hedges and third baseman Brett Wallace homered, as Triple-A El Paso (3-4) defeated Reno, 4-2, at Southwest University Park in El Paso.
Gettys led low Class A Fort Wayne to its first win of the season.
Hedges, 22, was 3-for-4 Wednesday and is off to a 7-for-18 start (.438). Wallace (.476) was 1-for-2 with two walks. Second baseman Taylor Lindsey was 1-for-3 and drove in the Chihuahuas' other two runs.
Right-handed starter Aaron Northcraft (1-1) allowed two runs on four hits and four walks with four strikeouts in five innings to pick up the win. Four Chihuahuas right-handed relievers allowed one hit over four scoreless innings while striking out eight to close out the win.
