Giants rip Allen, bullpen; Padres (save for Tatis, Naylor) quiet against Samardzija

Logan Allen dominated in his first start and got creative to earn the victory in his second.

His third quickly imploded.

The rookie allowed six runs, and the Giants punished three Padres relievers on the way to a 13-2 victory in Monday’s opener of a three-game series at Petco Park.

Allen surrendered his first hit of the night to the first batter of the third inning and then struck out three Giants in a row.

He had to that point allowed a total of two runs in 16 major league innings.

A lead-off walk, one-out double and two-out triple in the fourth doubled that total.
