Gavin Sheets lined a double to left field to drive in two runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to put the San Diego Padres on top of the Cleveland Guardians, 6-2.

Jason Heyward followed with a double off the wall in right-center field to drive in Sheets and give the Padres a 7-2 lead en route to their fifth consecutive win to start the season. It’s the first time San Diego has started 5-0 in franchise history.
