Padres win flag for Kroc; series opens tomorrow

The town whooped itself hoarse, backslapped itself silly, honked and hollered and cried itself a salty sea of joy as the San Diego Padres yesterday astonished all of baseball by winning three straight games over the Chicago Cubs to win the National League Pennant.
It was the first time any National League team had ever lost the first two games of a championship series and come back to win the pennant.
