SAN DIEGO -- Yangervis Solarte launched a three-run moonshot to the right-field seats in the third inning, while Padres starting pitcher Christian Friedrich made sure Petco Park remained a house of horrors for the Braves.
"He's got life. He's just got a lot of energy in the lineup," said Padres manager Andy Green of Solarte. "You see the passion out on the baseball field, he loves playing baseball. I think it's infectious in that way, and he's swinging the bat really well. The home run was big."
Friedrich tossed 6 2/3 sharp innings, allowing just two runs on six hits, while striking out seven, as the Padres beat Atlanta at home for the 11th straight time, 7-2.
