Ken Caminiti’s inclusion in this year’s Padres Hall of Fame induction class did not come without careful consideration of a checkered history that includes admitted steroid use during his 15-year career and the drug overdose that killed him Oct. 10, 2004, at the age of 41. Padres team president Mike Dee said “it’s all part of the story.”
“Was it discussed and considered? Yeah,” Dee said Friday afternoon. “I think the criteria for the Padres Hall of Fame – and I suspect many other team hall of fames – isn’t necessarily the same as the Baseball Hall of Fame.
